A real man has contact with real men. He's open to hearing things that force him to grow.

What shapes a man more than the company of other men? The company of other men, especially other real men, is enormously important. A real man has regular contact with other men.

Now you are probably thinking to yourself, "But I have contact with other men every week...". That's already a good approach, many don't have that either. But if the men you surround yourself with are not real men, but disoriented wimps, then you will not grow with them.

A real man seeks the presence of challenging men. Men who honestly tell him to his face that he is a wimp. Men who force him to grow and challenge him.

I personally believe that nothing shapes a man like the regular company of other men. Women are all well and good, but a woman will not be able to give you meaningful advice about life as a man. Your grandfather with his life experience, on the other hand, can. Similarly, as a man, you cannot give a woman advice about life as a woman.

A real man therefore has regular contact with other real men who openly say things to his face and force him to grow.

In many cultures today, there is still the village elder, the sage or the shaman who gives advice to the young men of the village or tribe when they need guidance.

Quote from men's literature

The Right Mindfulness

From time to time look into one’s self, even if only for five minutes a day at the same time.

Thereby one should immerse oneself into one’s inner being, carefully consult with one’s self, examine one’s principles and develop them, consider one’s knowledge - or the opposite – carefully in one’s thoughts, and weigh up one’s duties, think about the content and the true purpose of life, have serious displeasure about one’s own mistakes and imperfections, in a word: seek to find the essential, the enduring, and pursue corresponding goals, for example virtues that are to be attained, earnestly. (Do not make the mistake of thinking that one has done something well but constantly strive towards the highest precedent).

This exercise is also called “the right mindfulness”.

Eightfold Path

Integrate the everyday exercises into your daily life

"It is precisely through such exercises that it can be shown how we have to handle life if we want to make our body healthy and strong. It is not always the right thing to send someone to the pharmacy when they are sick so that they can find the medicine they need there. The right thing will be to arrange your whole life so that people are less affected by diseases or that the diseases are at least less oppressive. This happens when through such small exercises man strengthens the influence of the Self on the astral body, of the astral body on the etheric body and of the etheric body on the physical body. These things can emerge from our anthroposophical knowledge."

R. Steiner

Because you know the exercises, it is also possible to integrate them into everyday life.

This is very helpful and easy:

  1. When you drop something, briefly memorize the environment.
  2. Write individual letters in an unusual manner.
  3. Think in reverse order a bit.
  4. Notice the result of an action in its effects. And change a habit
  5. Notice small wishes and refrain from one or the other.
  6. Before making a decision, weigh up the pros and cons and then decide with the heart.
  7. Notice how often you judge and refrain from unnecessary criticism.
